THE HISTORY OF THE PIRATES
Pirates Youth Football Organization Founder
WILLIAM R. ROBERTS
1936 - 2005
The Park Hill Pirates Youth Sports Organization was established in 1968 by the late William (Bill) Roberts, a prominent businessman and politician in the great city of Denver. The Pirates have proudly influenced young people to become lawyers, doctors, politicians, attorneys, professional athletes, community leaders and hard working citizens. Impacting thousands of young men and women across the city, some of our proud Pirates Alumn are Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, Colorado State Representative James Coleman, DU Basketball Head Coach Rodney Billups, NBA Superstar and Finals MVP Chauncey Billups, NFL Superstars Calais Campbell, Lendale White, and Daniel Graham (honorary), Dr. Ryan Ross, Herman White Sr., Herman White Jr., Mikoyan Watson, Allen Webb, Roman Hollowell, Thal Woods, and so many more. Many Pirates players have gone to college on academic and athletic scholarships, graduated and are now reaching back in their communities to lend a helping hand.

Our Alumni's willingness to support, mentor, and partner with us over the years has helped create a level of tradition within our organization and instilled a great sense of pride in our young men and the Park Hill Community.
The Pirates are an extraordinary program that has made a tremendous impact within the city of Denver, the state of Colorado and the Park Hill community. With the neighborhood of Park Hill having had it's many challenges with gangs and gun violence, the Pirates have taken the necessary steps to consistently challenge our youth. We take pride in being CHANGE AGENTS so we continue to create other opportunities that will divert their attention toward more constructive activities. We have introduced Engineering Camps, tutoring and mentoring camps, Afterschool Enrichment Programs, Mentoring and much more. It is our mission as an organization to ensure our players are prepared for the next level in life, in the classroom and on the field.
